Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a hands on healing technique that was developed in the early 1900's by Mikao Usui in Japan. It is the Usui method that is used at Empowered Healings.

It is an art that is passed from Master to student. The Reiki healer acts as a channel for Reiki as opposed to directing the healing. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words – Rei (Spiritual Wisdom) and Ki (The Life Force), meaning Universal Life Force Energy. The term "Reiki" is used to describe both the energy and the Usui system of using it. Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.

The existence of this "life force energy" has been verified by recent scientific experiments, and medical doctors are considering the role it plays in the functioning of the immune system and the healing process.

A treatment feels like a glowing radiance surrounding you and flowing through you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit and helps the client feel relaxed and at peace. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
